From the Pastor’s Pen

Submitted by Rev. Sarah Isakson

This Easter season can be a time of preparation and new commitment to future ministry at Faith. As the disciples waited for the Holy Spirit to come, they also met together and were visited by the resurrected Jesus, who brought words of comfort, peace and new breath. The power of the resurrected Jesus is one energizing movement into a new missional journey.  We can prepare for, and consolidate our resources together in prayer, waiting and practicing calm, non-anxious acceptance that transformation and renewal take time.

We have many physical and spiritual renewal projects to undertake in committee structure and worship participation as we re-gather. The blessing of Easter services in gathering with new and former members was heartfelt. Over 100 of us gathered to rejoice in sanitized and safely distanced worship settings. A few did great amounts of work. Many thanks for staff who have met new challenges all year. In FUTURE, the future that is now being prepared, we all need to step up, to continue the new year of leadership in Council, in ministries that need support and key communication efforts to keep an online and in person worship available.

Many thanks to President Nick Pegelow; he is ready and willing to train others to take over the tasks that he has assumed in leadership. The Future depends on the NOW. The ministry going forward will need fuller participation by many, and prayer support and encouragement from all. I'm asking us all to put away critical judgement of slow movement in transition, and get on board with renewed activism. We will serve our community more lovingly as we practice the compassion and acceptance of the challenges we face together. God will release missional energy and actions needed to move Faith forward into our 76th year of the free, loving and accepting presence of Christ in our community.
