Thrivent Volunteers Spend Time on the Links

Not all Faith Lutheran Thrivent Community Service projects are as pleasant as this one: spending a couple hours in the December sunshine at the picturesque Mesa Country Club. We recently helped Neighborhood Ministries stage its annual Golf Tournament fundraiser.

The morning crew placed signs advertising Neighborhood Ministry on the front and back nine, helped with registration and lunch set-up… AND got to share the tasty lunch partly paid for with a $250 Thrivent Action Team grant. Afternoon volunteers were required only to enjoy the perfect weather and gather the signs as the 60 golfers finished up.

Tournament proceeds will help send 500 inner city kids to camp next summer. Thrivent volunteers included Paul Bott, Jennie Carr, Richard & Laura Kohring, Diane Havir, Veronica Alvarez, Fred Cowley, Jane Upham Birdsall, and Brenda Lund.
