Notes from a Special Congregational Meeting

A second meeting of the FELC Congregation was held on 01/30/22, separate from the Annual Financial Meeting, as required in our Congregation Constitution. This meeting was called secondary to recent changes and concerns re: continuation of our Latino Ministry Worship. The combination of Vicar Veronica’s reassignment to a different venue to broaden her education and Pastoral preparation, and recent the changes in the membership/attendance in the 11:00 Worship in Spanish brought about the felt need by the Church Council Executive Team to hold a Congregational meeting.

There was very open, healthy discussion by members of both the Latino and Anglo population of our Congregation based on heartfelt outpouring of the importance of this Ministry. A motion was made by Erna Dennert, seconded by multiple attendees, and a closed ballot was cast with 37 Yes and 2 No votes to continue the Latino Worship. This was important because it affirms the decision made by the Congregants almost 20 years ago and reconfirms the stance taken by the present day Congregants.

We are one Congregation with a diversity that serves us!

Respectfully submitted, Gail Turner, Secretary
