Making a Home of Faith Place

Everything happened so fast!

You may have read in the past three editions of Faith Alive! that we’re opening the doors of Faith Place to a refugee family working with Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest (LSS-SW). You guys really showed up to help make this family feel like they’re moving into a home.

I can’t wrap my head around the upset that the people of Afghanistan are experiencing right now, and it’s such a gift for us to be able to share our space with a family from under whom the proverbial rug has been handily snatched out. On Monday, LSS-SW staff Lawi, Jackson, Kerim, Rajab, Ami and Ashley swarmed the place to fill in the blanks anywhere the house didn’t already have everything the family would need. Pastor Sarah Upham-Birdsall, Jane Upham-Birdsall, Brenda Lund and Gail turner have also spent many hours this week making sure the house is clean and happy. Take a look at some photos below!

HUGE thank you to Dr. Craig Westendorf, Jan & Ken Kuenzli, Amy & Judi Duemler-Tyler, Bunni & Caroline Rowlett, and Heidi & Calvin Boldway for their generous donations of furniture and other supplies.

If you still have items at home that you’d like to share with our future tenants, please email me at info@faithalive.com with details about the items, and we’ll see what we can do about using them for the next family!
