LSS-SW Needs New Winter Jackets

A Message from Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest:

What a blessing to know that you care. We are so grateful for your support of people in need in Arizona.

Can you imagine moving to Arizona to live with a relative that you may not have seen in years - or ever? That's what happens for the hundreds of children and teens moving here for foster care. Many of them arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs, and their relatives do not receive financial support to care for them. Families have reached out and asked for jackets and hoodies to keep kids warm on chilly mornings when they head to school.

Refugees are also struggling with the cold weather, braving bus rides and walks before the sun comes up. Many of our new arrivals are traveling up to 1.5 hours on public transportation to go to work, and they don't yet have the financial resources to buy essentials that they need, like waterproof jackets and windbreakers.

There are a few ways you can help.

  1. Make a donation towards the purchase of jackets for children in foster care or refugees by clicking here.

  2. Buy a new jacket for someone in need on our Amazon Wishlist

  3. Bring a new jacket or hoodie to one of our offices. Please note that we are unable to accept used clothing. See our locations and drop off hours here.

You can give new neighbors a sense of comfort and belonging when they zip up their new jacket. Thank you for your generous outpouring of love.
