Loving Advent with NAUM

For the fourth and final week of Advent, Wanda Frenchman joined us from Native American Urban Ministries (NAUM). We raised almost $50 to donate to their organization! This is a great relief because Wanda shared a lot with us about the needs of this crucial ministry.

One thing that we learned last night is that NAUM is in need of donations of coffee + accoutrements, lunch food, disposable plates/bowls/flatware and napkins. If you would like to add to our donation to NAUM, please make a note on your contribution envelope, or contact Wanda or Mary Louise Frenchman.

Another really wonderful piece of information that Wanda shared with us last night is that a consortium of First Nations people came together to create a translation of the New Testament that speaks to the existing cultures and vernacular of the First Nations people. We heard an excerpt of John 1, and the Lord’s prayer. It was a really incredible insight into how language varies from people to people, and how crucial it is to meet our neighbors where they are when we reach out to grow together in our spiritual lives. If you’re interested in finding this book, take a look here!

This flyer came straight out of my pocket, so I am very sorry for the obvious crease and also that it is crooked, but take a look for more information on NAUM’s bi-weekly worship services on Saturday mornings. The service is growing, and they need a new worship space, so hopefully we’ll get to share our chapel with this ministry in Phoenix!

If you would like to donate directly to NAUM, please use the contact information listed here.
