Church Council Corner

The May 11, 2021 FELC Council met via ZOOM with 11 members present and 1 absent, and opened with prayer by Pr. Sarah. 

Treasurer’s report

  • Treasurer report reflects a $3000 deficit in the operating budget, which was approved for the year with an annual deficit of $12,000.

  • Please pray for the financial stability of our congregation.  

Pastor’s Report

  • Pastor’s report shows a full slate of Worship preparation, recording and live time; counseling, administrative work,  meeting with our Transition Team (weekly) & Preschool Task Force, among many other tasks.

  • A full report of Pastor Sarah’s activities is available upon request.

Vicar’s Report

  • Latino Ministry is on pause for 3 months, and Vicar Veronica has been meeting with the 5 families who have stated their desire to continue the Worship in Spanish. 

  • They have been discussing concerns about the evaluation process of the pause & what it takes to continue the Ministry at this time. 

  • They’ve also been going over what the ministry will look like moving forward in important fields of interaction, finances, and the Call Process. 

  • Treasurer Dave Hulin will meet with Vr. Veronica and interested persons to explain the financial aspects. 

Ministry Reports  

  • Administrative 

    • Legally, the whole campus needs to be smoke free, & signage purchased & will be posted soon.

    • Weekly cleaning service proposals reviewed with American Commercial Cleaning Service chosen at $650/ month.  

    • Also, landscape proposals reviewed with Arizmendi Landscaping chosen for biweekly services at $150/ visit. 

  • Community

    • LBGTQ+ Pride month will have awareness incorporated into Worship and sanctuary adornment.

  • Parish 

    • Faith will not be participating in the Stewardship for All Seasons program secondary to a lack of response from congregants. 

    • We will continue to support PhLY (Phoenix Lutheran Youth) with finances and meeting space.

  • Worship 

    • In-person, in sanctuary Worship will continue with masks, physical distancing, and check-in for contact tracing.  

    • Volunteers are needed for many positions each week... do something you are experienced in, or try something new! 

    • Carly has added technology to sign up your volunteer efforts via use of a QR Code, in addition to the paper & pencil option on the breezeway bulletin board!
