Social Justice Concerns

The Faith Evangelical Lutheran Congregation at 801 E. Camelback Road has earned the reputation of being very pro-active in the area of Social Justice Concerns for a long time. Now it is a New Church Year and time to reinvigorate our attention to matters and efforts to remain pro-active.

Our first opportunity is coming on February 1st as we get to join in with Arizona ELCA members at Lutheran Day at the Legislature. The gathering will be in the Rose Garden area on the State Capitol grounds, 8:30-10:30 AM.

Some of our members learned about this during the Advent Soup Supper series of awareness of Social Justice Concerns. Everyone is welcome, yes encouraged, to show up, get to meet some of our Senators and Representatives, and become emboldened by meeting other Lutherans from AZ who are like-minded.

In preparation for this there are postcards ready for you to write a short message to your Senator and 2 Representatives, inviting them to join us to get acquainted. The postcards are part of the effort by LAMA, Lutheran Advocacy Ministry of Arizona, to let our elected officials know that we Lutherans are steeped in Social Justice Concerns, as guided by our Christian values, and our history starting with Martin Luther. And we vote!

There will be a table for you to get these free postcards (already stamped) and jot a note to your own representatives. Watch for this opportunity between Worship Services during January. There will be information at the table about who yours are.
