Las Posadas de La Fe

I think we should take a moment in this article to contemplate and celebrate the gift that we have been given to have such a culturally diverse congregation here at Faith. As a Life Long Lutheran from the Great Lakes region, I’d been really quite unaccustomed to seeing anyone in a Lutheran church that didn’t look just like me, or who hasn’t grown up with the exact same traditions that I have. Fortunately, we live here in a confluence of Hispanic and American cultures where our worship consists of your traditional candlelit Christmas Eve service, but also the Mexican devotional tradition of Las Posadas.

At 6:30pm this Saturday, December 18, members of La Fe will be honoring this tradition on campus, symbolizing the struggles Mother Mary and Joseph had in finding lodging in Bethlehem. For more information about this tradition, check out this here Wikipedia page.

If you’d like to learn more about Las Posadas de La Fe, and how you might be able to participate as well, please contact me in the church office (602-265-3394) or Vicar Veronica Alvarez at vicar@faithalive.com.
