A Word from Pastor Sarah

I received the following message in one of my many daily emails. This one came from the Women of the ELCA’s Daily Grace. I hope you’ll join me today and every day as we remain mindful of the consequences that our words and actions can have on others.

“In a culture where some defend the right to be vitriolic and justify careless (sometimes even cruel) words, it is counter-cultural to seek kindness and generosity. In a world that sometimes appears to be in a fiery rush to rudeness that cuts off anyone that disagrees, it goes against the current to choose words that are as compassionate as they are authentic. There are two areas in our country begging us to learn that words matter: bullying in our schools and our political discourse.”

From “Words Matter in Church and Society” by Inez Torres Davis, in the August 2012 issues of InterchangeToday we remember Nathan Söderblom, Bishop of Uppsala, who died in 1931.
