Every year, the ELCA participates in a National Day of Service called "God's Work, Our Hands." This day is an ooportunity to celebrate who wer eare as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America - one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic conveictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ - every act of service, in every daily calling , in every corner of life - flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God's grace.
The big day is almost here! Sunday, September 9th, is "God's Work, Our Hands" Sunday. We hope to see everyone in their yellow tee shirts as we join together for worship, and then gather in the Parish Hall after the service for our GWOH event. Much of the work will already have been done. Members of our Faith family have been very generous in bringing weekly donations of cleaning supplies. A delightful group of shoppers will go out on Saturday, September 8th, wiht a $250.00 Trivent Action Grant, to purchase buckets and other items to supplement what was donated.
GWOH is a day for everyone to be involved. We woul dlove to have every single on of your stop in the Parish Hall to enjoy coffee time and fill one bucket! We will have things organized so that all you need to do to be part of this day of service is to go through the line with a bucket and fill it with supplies. These "Buckets of Love" will be delivered to Luhteran Social Services of the Southwest the following week to be distrubted to their low-income seniors and their refugee families.
